Chovar Hill is very popular, and an open area near Kathmandu Valley makes a short hike to Chovar Hill very easy. You just need to catch a public vehicle from your place to Ranta Park or Balkhu. If you have private vehicles then easy to follow the highway to the famous Daskinkali Temple. I rode on a bike there and enjoyed the atmosphere around Chovar.
I usually go there when I have time because from Chovar there are lots of options to go; such as Kirtipur, Pharping, Sikali Danda, Taudaha Lake, and even Dakchhinkali. And very easily available transportation to go there. This time I visited after more than two and a half years and found a lot of changes there. Lots of new construction work was going on, and some of the construction work was already done.

The first change I found was to make a good blacktop road to go up to the Monastery and the hilltop. The second one was a long shelter to organize the shops on that hill. Where visitors can drink tea and coffee, and have a portion of good food as well. Because there are now quite good quality restaurants running. There used to be a big problem with the toilet, and now there is availability of the public toilet as well.
Some other important changes were that they built a huge Manjushree Statue. In the legends of Nepal, Manjushree is a very popular and important person in Kathmandu Valley. Kathmandu Valley used to be a lake, and Manjushree cut the hill of Chovar to drain the water from the valley. Since then, Kathmandu Valley become useful to living human beings.

Making a short hike to Chovar always gives me the refreshment and energy to stay in this dusty and bustling Kathmandu. Therefore, Chovar is one of my favorite places in Kathmandu. Chovar is very famous for shooting Nepali films and music videos. Also, popular for a little party and picnic spot in an open space. Most interestingly, this place is the safest dating spot for young boys and girls.
In Chovar Danda, there are two sections, divided by the highway. The upper part is free to go, and the lower part needs to pay a little for the entrance fee. The lower part is more adventurous and more educational because there are some important things to see. There is a temple, a cave, a park, and a deep gorge. Visit Chovar and not seeing these places is worthless. Make a hike in Chovar.

This time I walked around both parts and enjoyed my half-day. While I was there, I saw couples sharing their love, and families enjoying their time with a loved one. Party and picnic lovers are singing, dancing, eating food, and sharing their good time with each other. In Chovar, there are some other famous places located, such as Whoopy Land Water Amusement Park and Modern Indian School.
