Temal is a remote village near the capital city of Nepal, Kathmandu. This area is the home of the Tamang community because a large number of Tamang people live in this area. Also, living in other casts too, but the majority of people are Tamang. Doing the Temal Trek is an opportunity to experience the Tamang culture and traditions.

Naturally, this place is very beautiful because of the high Hill, terrace farmland, rivers, and many more. The most important Hindu Temple is the Narayanstan Temple, and the Buddhist is the Yarinaag in Yangbel, and many monasteries and stupas.

It’s believed that the greatest Guru Rimpoche was in Temel, and he meditated in Yangbel Temal. Still, that cave is an essential holy place for Buddhist followers. And believed that the Guru Rimpoche learned Bonbo culture from Temal. The Buddha Chita Mala is the blessing from the Guru. Temal Trek can be 2/3 days to a week.

Temal Trekking

Nepal is the universe of different kinds of festivals. Therefore, Temal also celebrates different kinds of annual festivals.

Janai Purnima – Janai Purnima is one of the major festivals and fairs in Nepal. In Temal, this festival is also annually celebrated in Narayanstan. Normally, this festival falls in July or August. This is a Hindu fair, and the Bonbo will perform their rituals on the occasion of this festival.

Manair Purnima – This is another great festival celebrated in Temal, and it will be celebrated in different areas. During this festival, so many goats will be sacrificed in the Mahankal Temples; in the daytime and nighttime, there will be singing and dancing celebrations going on. People believe that when they sacrifice goats, and on the occasion of Mansir Purnima, they will achieve what they wish in the future.

Lhosar Festival- will be celebrated all over Temal because the majority of people are Tamang. Interestingly, people of Temal celebrate both Sonam and Gyalpo Lhosar. During Lhosar, the Tamang people get together in their homeland and share their love and joy. Younger people get Tika, blessings, and gifts from older people.

However, in Temal people will celebrate the Dahsin and Tihar festivals as well; these festivals are the nationwide festivals, and they are commonly celebrated.
