Lukla is a small town on the way to Everest Base Camp with an elevation of 2860m above sea level. Notoriously it is also popular as the place of the world’s most dangerous airport. As is locally known as the area of sheep and goats located in the eastern part of Nepal. Mostly known as the gateway of the Everest Region Treks and Expeditions. How to get in There
Every adventure seeker wants to be in Lukla once in a lifetime to enjoy the beauty of the Everest region. There are 4 different ways to get in there.
Flight from Kathmandu or Manthali to Lukla.
From Kathmandu to Lukla daily flights are going basically mostly in the morning time. However, there are flights that are operating from Manthali as well during the peak trekking season in Nepal (Spring and Autumn). The flight will take around 25 to 30 minutes from Kathmandu. The prime airline that does flights to Lukla are Tara Air, Sita Air, Summit Air, and Nepal Airlines. The flight will cost around 195 USD for one way for tourists and around 10000 rupees for local people.
Fly in Helicopter
Heli Flight is another option to get into Lukla, it’s an expensive but easy and faster way to transportation. Heli Copter must be reserved or have enough people to fly. Even some companies offer the Everest Heli Tour as well.
By Road
There is road access to the Ramailo Danda near Paiya and they plan to build a road to Surke Village just below the Lukla. That is why now also you can take a Jeep from Kathmandu to Ramailo Danda and then walk for one day to get to Lukla Village.
Trekking
Most of the people go to Lukla to trek to Everest Base Camp. And you can go there by going to Trek from Jiri or Phaplu or Salleri. Jiri to Lukla is the route of the classic Jiri to Everest Base Camp Trek. Also called the Everest Lower Trail Trek.
Accommodation
There are more than enough hotels and restaurants in the village. It all depends on what kind of hotel accommodation you are looking for luxurious resorts to budget guest houses. Most of these hotels are for trekkers and climbers who traveling to the Everest region.

You can go to Lukla all year round but the best time to go to Lukla is Spring, Autumn, and Winter. Spring (March to May) Autumn (October to November) and Winter (December to February).
