This year the second-highest number of climbers are going to climb Mt. Everest. This year, a total of 414 people are granted permission to climb Mount Everest. The highest number was last year (2023) when 478 climbers were issued permits to climb Mt. Everest.
According to the information on the Department of Tourism website, there are 76 women and 339 men from 41 different mountaineering groups are all set to scale the world’s highest peak this year’s spring season. In these groups, one group is led by legendary climber Kami Rita Sherpa who is going to break his own world record and set a new world record.
Besides Everest, there are 30 other mountains that are going to be climbed by 971 climbers from all around the world. Mountaineering activities collect 674.7 million in royalties. More than 592.3 million come from the permit to climb Mount Everest this year. And there are hundreds of Sherpa, Guide, and porters getting the job in this field.
This is a good sign for the tourism industry of Nepal as its growing number of Mountain climbers from all over the world.
