Today was our day 1 at the Annapurna Circuit Trek. Annapurna Circuit Trek is one of the most popular ones in Nepal. After the lockdown, this is my first trek in the popular trekking trails. We drove from Kathmandu at 8 am in the morning to Besisahar. When we reached the Thankot check post, the traffic jam was terrible. And that took around 2 hours to clear the road and to have an easy drive.
We had lunch at Malekhu in a riverside hotel, ate Dalbhat, and then continued our journey to Besisahar. There was heavy rain, and the road was not so good, so we took an alternative way from nearby Dhumre for a while. And finally, we reached Besisahar. From Besisahar, we need to change jeep to Nagdi because the road was really bad and unable to drive the jeep we came from Kathmandu. We changed the jeep and drove to Nagdi, and it took one and a half hours to reach there.
We reached Nagdi around 6 pm, in the evening, and it was almost dark. After we got in there, we ordered tea and coffee, and the hotel owner prepared the rooms for us. Because the hotel is not being used that much due to trekkers in that area, due to the coronavirus. Today was our first day on the trek, and overall, the day was tough and rough. Because at the beginning, we had a big traffic jam, and at the end, there was heavy rain and difficult to drive to our destination.
This is my first trek in this area since the coronavirus hit all over the world. And tourists stopped coming to Nepal. I was feeling so happy, and I am back in my most loved job. I have done the Annapurna Circuit Trek many times. But this time was special becasue i am back to the Mountain. After spending a whole year in Kathmandu and not seeing the giant mountains.
