Walk Yak Kharka to High Camp
Today was our last day before passing the Thorong La 5416m and the Manang district. We had the very best time in the Manang and we hiked up to Tilicho Lake to acclimate before the high pass. We started to walk a bit later than other days before Yak Kharka was a bit cold and we are waiting for the sun to arrive.
Starting is always tough but we used to do so that we easily managed. Along the way, the running water sources are frozen and small shops are closed because there are no tourists, and very cold at night time.
After an hour we reached Leather village In Leather, and only one hotel is open. We slowly continue our hike to Phedi. Phedi where we had lunch and took a long break before climbing up to High Camp. From Phedi to High camp the walking trail is zigzag but straight up around 500m.
As usual, we walk slowly but steadily. Along the way, we encountered with blues sheep family. They are grazing peacefully in the mountains. And the crazy horses cheesing by a man to control.
To walk to High camp from Phedi took an hour for us. Reaching the high camp is almost reached in the Thorong La 5416m. Because it is just one more step to reach Thorong La. When we were in the high camp, there are not many people so we put our bags in the room and drank black coffee. I
n the evening we hiked a bit to the viewpoint from High camp. That is the best place to have an amazing view of Phedi to yak Kharka. And then Annapurna range to the Tilicho range. We took some beautiful photos on top of the viewpoint and backed down to the high camp.
Overall we had an amazing day and we enjoyed ourselves a lot being in the high camp. But I was a bit worried because in the high camp, there is very difficult for sheep and maybe someone will get altitude sickness. Because in the group some of them are sleeping first time at that high. But luckily we all get no problems at all.
