Sunkoshi River – A river origin in Tibet and goes all the way to India via Nepal

Sunkoshi River

Sunkoshi river is one of the beautiful freshwater running water rivers in Nepal. The Nepali translation of the Sunkoshi river is Sun means Gold and Koshi means big river. This river’s water source is the Himalayas and flows down from Tibet. It’s flowing all the way to the Saptakoshi river and mixed with the holy Ganga river in India. It means this river is also the source of the Saptakoshi River and the holy Ganga river.

Sunkoshi river is the life of millions of people who are living on the bank of it. Because of this river, many people can irrigation in their land and produce agricultural products. Not only agricultural products in their land people are fishing for a living and fun purpose. Not only agricultural products from this river there is a very big potential for electricity production. Also, from this year each year tons and tons of sand are taken by people who live nearby; and even sand from this river will go to Kathmandu.

This river has huge potential for tourism because here is possible for white water rafting. As I remember, when I was young there were so many tourists they used to do rafting during the autumn season. But nowadays there are not that many rafting activities are going. I think it’s happening because of not being able to promote and marketing about this river and white water adventure. Another reason is the transportation facilities of this region.
