Namobuddha Bhaktapur and Nagarkot Tour

Namobuddha Bhaktapur and Nagarkot Tour in a Day

We planned to tour Namobuddha, Bhaktapur, and Nagarkot in one day by Car. As we planned, I booked a car, and after breakfast in the hotel, we drove to Namobuddha. While we were driving, we had a beautiful mountain view along the way, and we stopped at Dhulikhel, enjoyed the Mountain view, and played traditional swing on the spot.

After half an hour of driving, we reached Namobuddha. Namobuddha itself prevails as one of the most popular and important Buddhist pilgrimage sites in Nepal. We visited the site and enjoyed the atmosphere around there, but unfortunately, we were unable to go inside the monastery and cave. Because the monetary administration closed the gate for travelers due to the pandemic.

In mythology, more than 6000 years ago, a royal family went hunting in the jungle. The prince shows a sick finger mom with her 6 newborns, and they are very hungry. Seeing that the prince decided to sacrifice himself and bring the tigers. And he gave his blood to the mother tiger, and in the end, those tigers ate him. After that, the royal family built a stupa, and Namobuddha became one of the most important Buddhist sites in Nepal.

From Namobuddha, we drove back to Bhaktapur. Bhaktapur is one of the UNESCO Heritage sites in Nepal. Also, it’s historically one of the royal kingdoms of ancient Nepal. To enter the medieval city need to pay a US $15 entrance fee for foreigners, but free for Nepali. So we bought two tickets and then started to walk in this city.

Bhaktapur is known as Bhadgaun and in Newari Khopa. This means the city of devotees. In Bhaktapur, originally inhabited by the Newar people, but nowadays, people from all over Nepal live there. Inside Bhaktapur, there are four squares to visit for tourists. Dhatrataya Square, Taumandi Square, Pottery Square, and the Durbar Square. All the places are very attractive and watchful, so we visited all these places, had a cup of coffee, and enjoyed the taste of the king of yogurt (ghughudhao).

Then our trip continued to Nagarkot, and we drove directly to the viewpoint of Nagarkot. We enjoyed the mountain view from the view tower and walked to the hotel. We stayed at the Everest Manla Resort. This hotel has the best mountain view, city view, and landscape view. Again, unfortunately, we missed the sunset view. In the hotel, we met other Nepali travelers who were enjoying their vacation.

Overall, we had a fantastic day enjoying a combination of beautiful nature, traditional historical, cultural, and faith-based religions.
