This time we made a journey to Roshi to attend in a marriage function. Roshi 4 Mahadevtar is the childhood hometown of my wife. It’s the place where she grew up and spend her 16 years of life. We travelled there to attend in the wedding ceremony of my bother in law’s. In our Tamang culture we have to go there to attend the ceremony.
Distance wise that is not that long from Kathmandu; it’s just 65KM. Due to road condition it took around 4hours to reach there. The first part was block top road and easy road. Hence we had the enjoyable ride and we enjoyed because weather was clear and we can see the snowy mountain peaks on the left side. However; the second part was bumpy and jumpy road on the bank of the river was very tough.
When we were there; there were a lots of people coming. Because they are all relatives and family members of the groom. Today is the first day of wedding and people are gathering to celebrate. Well at the evening everyone dancing and singing there. Mostly everyone dancing. What I found is our culture and traditions is going to dying slowly because; the young people are dancing in the international music; and they even don’t like to hear the traditional music. This dancing continue for whole night.
The second day was more important day of the wedding, it’s called Lagan. Lagan is the function where officially and socially bride and groom become husband and wife. We attend in that Lagan function because my wife have to put tika to bride and groom. Before start Tika function we were all sitting on the floor for breakfast. After breakfast Tika ceremony started and it took around 4 hours.
After Lagan normally there will be a another function call Ganta Gane. But this time that is not going to do that. Because the bride side have different kind of tradition then which we have in our area. So that our journey to Roshi was fruitful and enjoyable this time.
