Hike to Tilicho Lake

Tilicho Lake is known as the world’s highest lake, hike to Tilicho Lake 4920m is a dream. Tilicho Lake is located in the Manang district with an elevation of 4920m above sea level. After having the easy two days from Manang. Today was one of the heavy days of our tour. Because we have to climb 800m and walk back to Shree Kharka. We woke up at 4;30 am in the morning to hike up to Tilicho Lake. Because we planned to walk up at 5 am in the morning. We started on time to walk up with false light. The morning was a bit cold and chill so we put on our warm clothes.

While walking up we met so many Nepali people going up and struggling to breathe and walk because of the altitude. I suggest they walk slowly and steadily. Some of them even followed us. After a few hours, we reached the ice and snowy trail.  The trail was slippery and dangerous too and Nepali trekkers are walking in normal shoes. Seeing this I felt pity for them. We slowly climbed and reached Tilicho Lake. Along the way, the wind and snow made us a bit challenging and hard to walk.

Tilicho Lake was so beautiful and we forget every after we reached in there. First, we hung the prayer flags there. And We took some photos and videos at the lake because this is a lifetime journey and memory. Drank the black tea which we carried with us from base camp. Reaching the lake was nice and the most challenging task as there is going down to the base camp. After spending some time walking down to the base camp which took two and half hours. Because the trail was very slippery we need to walk very slowly and preciously.

We backed to the base camp and ordered lunch and we packed our luggage back in Shree Kharka. After lunch, we started our journey to Shree Kharka. We were already tied up after climbing and down from Tilicho Lake. But there is no choice us to trek back to Shree Kharka today. Walking throughout the landslide area was very difficult and dangerous. Anyway, we safely made that and we chose to walk the lower trail because the trail nearby the hanging bridge was very tough. The lower trial was very long but easier than the upper trial.

We ended our today’s trip after walking 12 hours but we hike to Tilicho Lake 4920m. Therefore today was one of the hardest and longest days of our Annapurna Circuit Trek. As well was very mesmerizing as well.
