Well, my daughter’s school was off, and I wanted to make an outside trip together with the family. I was thinking of making a hiking trip somewhere like Jamacho Gumba, Phulchoki Hill, Champadevi Hill, and Chandragiri Hiking. When I talked with my daughter, she didn’t want to walk, but she wanted to go out and have some fun. So I chose to go to visit Chandragiri Hill by cable car and spend a day there.
As we planned to make a trip to Chandragiri, we took a bus from Kalimati to Thankot and hiked up to the Cable Car station. In the basement of the cable car station, there are some things to do: a playground for kids and small stalls to buy something. We spent some time in the basement before we took the cable car to the top of the Chandragiri.
Because of the public holiday, there were many people, and we stayed in the queue to purchase the ticket. After getting the ticket in hand again, we have to stay in the line, so staying in the line continues. There are many cable cars to go up and down, so the line to catch the cable car was not as long as buying a ticket. But both processes took us around half an hour before we got in the cable car to Chandragiri Hill.
Our journey embarked on a Cable car, which was very fun for all of us because we were flying on the rope. I showed my daughter was very happy to be out of school and stop to learn ABCD, 12345, and क ख ग घ. After a few minutes, we reached the top of Chandragiri Hill.
Things to do in Chandragiri Hill

There are many enjoyable activities that can be done on the top of Chandragiri Hill. As this place belongs to the history of Nepal; in the history of Nepal the great King Prithi Narayan Shah shows the views of the Kathmandu Valley, and he decided that he wanted to be king of this amazing land. So this place is very popular for the views of Kathmandu Valley and its surroundings.
Take a photo with family
Chandragiri Hill is one of the viewpoints near Kathmandu Valley. Going there and not taking a good photo with friends and family will make your journey there. Because the scenery from the top and the surroundings are stunning. So you can’t stop taking good photos for the memory of your trip to Chandragiri.
Enjoy the mountain and the surrounding vistas
From the top of Chandragiri Hill, you can enjoy the panoramic view of snowy peaks. Such as Mt. Everest, Ganesh Himal, Dorje Lakpa, and many more. Not only the mountain view, but we can also enjoy the great view of the Kathmandu Valley and Chitlang village. You can enjoy the view of the green wilderness and the man-made creation of Chandragiri Hill resort.
Play with children in the Children’s park children
There is a children’s park where you can enjoy your trip to Chandragiri Hill with your kids. I enjoyed myself a lot there with my daughter because my daughter was super happy to be there. Although she was there when she was 2 years old, too. At that time, she could not play like this.
Worship at Bhaleshwor Mahadev Temple
The main attraction of Chandragiri Hill is the Bhaleshwor Mahadev Temple. This is a Hindu temple, and you can worship here. Even walking around this temple with the surrounding glimpse will make your trip to Chandragiri successful.

How to get there
First, you need to go to Kalanki. Kalanki is the junction of the highway to Pokhara, Chitwan, and many other destinations. So first you drive to Kalanki and then take a public bus to Thankot and then up to Chandragiri. You can get off at Tribhuvan Park and then hike a bit to reach the Chandragiri Cable Car station.
In conclusion
Our trip to Chandragiri Hill was amazing; we spent almost a full day up there. Took some beautiful photos, worshiped at the Bhaleshwore Temple, and enjoyed the outstanding scenery of Kathmandu Valley, Chitlang village. Unfortunately, we could not have the spectacular vistas of the snowy peaks. So I felt this place is a full package to enjoy your weekend with your family.
