Make a Tour to Muktinath to explore the combination of nature and religion

Making a tour to Muktinath is all about exploring the most prominent Hindu and Buddhist sites in Nepal. This most valuable temple lies in the lap of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri Himalaya. Located at the elevation of 3800m above sea level and the Mustang district of Nepal. This place is known as the Mukti Kshetra which means the place of liberation and freedom.

This place is a trending travel destination for Nepali tourists. Because there is easy transportation available and building the good roads. And the second option is because of the Upper Mustang and Thorong La Pass from the Manang side. Best Facilities of the accommodations along the way and Muktinath itself.

Muktinath Temple is inside the Annapurna Conservation Area. This conservation area offers many trekking trails such as Annapurna Circuit and Upper Mustang, Annapurna Base Camp, etc. Annapurna Circuit and Upper Mustang both treks can combine a visit to Muktinath Temple. Especially, when a trekker goes for ACT he/she will stop overnight at Muktinath.

Side trail can walk from Muktinath or places can visit nearby Muktinath.

A: Thorong La Pass 5410m

The most popular one is Thorong La Pass. Thorong La Pass is known as the world’s widest pass at the elevation of 5416m. And this is the border between Manang and Mustang districts. However, climbing from the Muktinath side is very tough and takes more time than climbing from the Manang side.

B: Lubra Village.

Lubra village is a typical mountain village located on the lap of mount Nilgiri and the bank of the Panda River. This authentic 12th-century village is the home of the Bon community. And still, they are preserving their unique culture and traditions.

C: Lower part of Mustang.

Mustang district has two-parts upper mustang and lower. Upper Mustang is a part of the Tibetan border and the lower part is in the trans-Himalayan part. While making a tour to Muktinath also can explore the lower part of the Mustang such as; Jharkot Kinga, Kagbeni, Jomsom, Marpha, latte, and Kalapani, Tukuche, and Ghansa.

Options of transportation to make a tour to Muktinath

It depends on who you want to travel to Muktinath. You can go by land and by air too. By land, you have to take a bus from Kathmandu or Pokhara. And by air need to book a flight ticket from Pokhara to Jomsom.

During peak trekking sessions very difficult to get a flight ticket and the weather can be the enemy to fly in and out to Jomsom. If you want to hire a private vehicle that is also possible and nowadays there is a better road. Because the Nepal government is constructing a highway to connect with China.

Festivals in Muktinath.

Muktinath is not only known for being naturally and religiously beautiful. It’s traditionally and culturally also very rich because people of this area celebrate different festivals. As Yartung Festival, this festival celebrates on the full moon day of August month each year.

This festival celebrates all over the Mustang but the biggest one will celebrate in Muktinath. So that making a tour to Muktinath during the Yartung festival will add more fun to your trip.
