Sailung the Headquarter of the 100 Hills of Mahabharat Hilly Range

The name Sailung means the hill of the 100 hills, Sai means 100 and lung means hills. Which is the natural and spiritual landmark on the Mahabharata Hill range with an elevation of 3165 above sea level. Where people go for religious worship and touristic activities. As it’s one of the hilltops of the Mahabharata Hill Range from here we can enjoy the 100 hills view.

Sailung Hill is a scenic destination in the Dolakha District of Nepal.  Famous for its startling views of the Himalayas, dramatic landscapes, and cultural significance. It’s an attractive spot for trekking and experiencing the typical Tamang culture. The area offers breathtaking views and an opportunity to explore Nepalese rustic life.

From Sailung can enjoy the view of the five famous mountain ranges Everest, Annapurna, Langtang, Ganesh Himal, and Rolwaling regions.

How do I get there?

To reach Sailung there are road transportation is the easiest and cheapest option for everyone.

Drive by Road

From Kathmandu, it’s about a 6-8 hour drive to reach Sailung. Via Bhaktapur, Banepa, Dolalghat, Mude or take a route from Puspalal Lok Marge from Dolalghat to Bhosa then drive to Sailung.

Available Public Transport

Buses or jeeps are available from Kathmandu to reach the nearest villages of Sailung Hill.

Trekking and Hiking

Different trekking trails are available for adventurous travelers seeking a more immersive trip. Many people who like nontouristic and less crowded trekking trails do Sailung Trek or combine it with Temal Trek too.

The best time to go to Sailung

The best time to go to Sailung Hill is all year but the spring (March to May) autumn (September to November) winter (December to February) months are the best times to visit. During those months there are clear skies, best trekking conditions, and spectacular views of the Himalayas. During the winter season is a bit cold but the views are stunning in spring and autumn, even sometimes there will be snow. Although, the summer season is rainy and does not have good views, however, it offers a perfect greenery atmosphere
