Traveling from Pokhara to Jomsom on Jeep during Upper Mustang Trek

2022/07/31 Today is our second day of the Upper Mustang Trek and we traveled on Jeep from Pokhara to Jomsom. Because no flights were operating Pokhara – Jomsom since the Tara Air Crashed in Lete Mustang. As we planned we took load our bags in Jeep at 7 am in the morning and we started our journey to Jomsom around 7:15 AM. We follow the trail to Beglung and Beni which is known as the Bhupi Serchan Highway. But nowadays it’s known as the Korala and Madhya Pahadi Lok Marga.

Drive was very smooth at the first part because the road is very good. But I was missing the beautiful views of the Mt. Machhapuchhere, Dhaulagiri, and Annapirna range. Because it was full of clouds and not much visibility but still we were enjoying it. Our first break was at Nayapul as the Tea and Toilet break, we had a cup of coffee and I ate Samosa as well. From there we continue our journey from Pokhara to Jomsom in Jeep with a plan to stop at Galeswore.

Galeswore is a very important place for Hindu followers because the Shiva Temple here is worshiped as the second Pashupatinath. We stopped there for PiepPiep and continue our drive to Jomsom. Unfortunately, we stock near by Ghansa because jeep is not starting and we tried everything to start but were not able. And diver called the machine to fix the problem and till then we walk to Ghansa to eat something. After around 15 minutes of walking, we reached Ghanaa and permit an entree in Ghansa, and wait to fix the jeep.

OMG, it took 6 hours to repair the jeep because the mechanic have to come from Jomsom. While the jeep was fixing we walked up to the Ghansa village because we haven’t eaten lunch. But unfortunately, there is no proper restaurant to eat in so we went to a small place. Ordered some noodle soup and local tea, Masala Tea. But luckily in that little restaurant, there was wifi, and got wifi to time pass by watching Youtube, and Facebook. Do you think how much tea we drank there while waiting to Jeep? 1, 2, 3 max 4. No we drank 7 cup each and total 21 and later 2 cup for driver.

Finally at 7.15pm I got a call that Jeep is coming and order me something to eat. And I ordered noddle soup for a driver and mechanic. They got there at half pass seven and eat soup and our journey from Pokhara to Jomsom on Jeep began. Driving on night time and unfortunately foggy everywhere so that made our drive slow. First hour is very slow because of that, when we reached in Kalapani then we have the clear way. Then Jeep started to run very fast and untimely at 10.30 pm we reached in Kagbeni.

When we reached there food was ready, room was ready. In our dinner we ate Dal Bhat because we ordered that while we eere driving to there. After the meal we planned about our next day or first day walk of the Upper Mustang Trek. And went to bed at 11:30 PM, almost at the mid night.

Kagbeni village

Kagbeni village is one of the most popular village in Mustang. It’s religiously, culturally, and naturally very significant for both Buddhist and Hindu. In the history of Mustang and Nepal its used to be the tax collections center of the trade route to Tibet and Nepal.
