A journey to my hometown Temal

I often make a journey to my hometown Temal Thulo Parsel for personal reasons and professional reasons. This time I travel for both personal and professional reasons. The journey was a bit long and tried but as usual beautiful. However unable to enjoy the majestic vistas of the snowy mountain peaks. But still, there is an opportunity to enjoy the beautiful landscapes, clean water running Sunkoshi.  river.

Temal is popular for natural, historical, and cultural phenomena. This auspicious land is the homeland of the Tamang people and Tamang culture because it was the territory of the Tamang Kingdom. In the history of Nepal Temal used to be the powerful Tamang Kingdom of King Hrinzen Dorje. When king Prithivi Narayan Saha unified Nepal he cheated to win over Temal and conquered the Temali Kingdom. This is a journey to my hometown Thulo Parsel via Dhulikhel, Bhakundebesi, Kottemal, Yangbel, Narayanstan, and then Thulo Parsel.

Here in Temal the great Buddhist Guru Rimpoche meditation cave is located which is why this is a very auspicious land for the Buddhist community. So that in the Buddhist world Temal is known as the Yari Naag; which means a place where Padmasamvaba meditates. Still, people believe it’s a place where one can get the best Buddha Chitta Mala (Buddha Chitta seeds). A kind of seed that is very useful and important In Buddhism.

My home town is a part of Temal and it is in Thulo Parsel. This time I am traveling to my hometown for the funeral ceremony of the two oldest people of the village who died recently. The first funeral started on 25 November and it will take 2 days and the next one will start on 28 November. During these funerals, Lama (Monks) will perform according to our Tamang culture. They will read lama books, and play with different kinds of types of equipment, and sons, daughters, and their closest relatives have to attend during the funeral. In the end sons have to save their hair, and daughters have to change their clothes and take Wang(blessing) from the main Lama.

I have to visit the house building site to check the progression of the project; which is running under my supervision. The project site is the upper part of my village; where Magar people are living and it’s quite a big village. These are the 37 houses we are building for the poor people. This project was started after the earthquake in 2015 and this was started by Hans and Fabienne to help the people of my village. And, this foundation Helping Thulo Parsel is growing and growing since then. This year we built 6 houses and one more to build. The next year 2022 planning to build 5 or 6 houses.

This is a journey to my hometown Temal Thulo Parsel for personal and professional reasons. Some trekking companies offer short trekking in this area and that is called Temal Trek. This trek is a completely off-the-beaten trek in Nepal.
